Thoughtful Thursday: Week 6 – If you could have three wishes what would you wish for? #30things

Week 6 of 30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me

It has been quite a few months since I last worked on this, but it is back and I am determined to complete it.

If you could have three wishes what would you wish for?

1) Financially stability. I don’t want to be a millionaire, sure it would be nice, but I just want to be comfortable. We really just need to be able to have enough to save for a down payment on a house then we should be able to make ends meet. I want us to have a place of our own and not have to worry about if we are not going to have a roof over our heads. I want the kids to feel safe and always know where home is.

2) Space! I want just a small closet of a room for me. I love to do all kinds of crafty stuff, but I don’t have anywhere to keep it all setup. If I had a safe space to keep it all setup I would do it more often and maybe finally open that online boutique I have been hoping to have some day. I want it to double as an office so I can have my computer and design equipment all setup as well.

3) I longer attention span. The kids don’t help with this that is for sure. I find I begin to get stuff prepared to write a post or work on editing some photos, but then I get distracted by something (oh something shiny, I’ll brb) and forget what I was originally doing. One of these days I will be able to have random posts scheduled for an entire month and then from there I can toss in some reviews, giveaways and sponsored posts without feeling like I neglect my blog because I can’t focus to get more than a post or two done.

Be comfortable while nursing with Mombo

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Comfort and Harmony for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As many of you know all four of my deliveries were by c-section.  Healing from a c-section is painful and nursing can be uncomfortable if you can’t adjust yourself to the right angle for both you and baby.  I needed a nursing pillow to allow both myself and my babies the right support, comfort and position to achieve a proper latch in those early weeks.  It is important to develop a good latch and nursing bond in the beginning, which can be some of the hardest times in your breastfeeding journey.  I wish I had heard of the mombo™.

Mombo features a two-sided design called Firm2Soft™.  One side is firm giving support for both mommy and nursing baby, the other side is extra cozy which is great for lounging or tummy time.  Mombo is the only nursing pillow that offers a vibration feature (all my kids loved stuff that vibrated) for a soothing feeling during lounging.  They offer styles in Standard, Deluxe or Nude™. They are not only functional, but have adorable slipcovers.  I spied some beautiful girl and cute boy covers, as well as Disney ones.  Best part if you see 1 or 10 you like you can get them all because you can have one Mombo and multiple slipcovers to suit your fashion or just to have backups when one is in the wash.  I just love the Deluxe Monkey Taggies cover (pictured to the left) and I am sure if you checkout Mombo you’ll find one you love too.

Mombo is made by Comfort and Harmony, you can find them Comfort & Harmony on Facebook and Comfort & Harmony on Twitter.

Bratz are re-launching #RealBratz

New BratzThe Drama Queens love Bratz!  One of the few things they asked Santa for this past Christmas was Bratz.  I was excited to hear that Bratz are re-launching this year.  MGA Entertainment has made the dolls two-inches taller and sporting updated clothes and accessories while still the keeping the look we have come to know and love.

Not only are the dolls being re-launched, but Bratz is inviting fans to join in its national advocacy campaign for girls, the Real Bratz Movement.  The Real Bratz Movement is seeking to find girls and young women who are making differences in their community.  For more details on the movement and to read the guidelines and submit a video visit Real Bratz Movement.  Make sure you hurry though because they are only accepting videos until June 30th.

I love the idea behind the movement.  It is promoting girls and young women to make a difference.  I think it is great that they want to showcase how great these girls are.

Definition of Real Bratz Girls from the campaign Mission Statement:

A Real Bratz girl is someone who works hard every day to be the best she can be and stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.  A Real Bratz girl gives back to her community through her talent, her time, and her knowledge.  She knows what it takes to make her dreams come true, even if it means doing the impossible.  A Real Bratz girl thinks outside the box, innovates and invents, and brings new ideas and concepts into the world.  Real Bratz girls are everywhere, in every classroom, in every neighborhood, in every city, and all around the globe. They grow up and become Real Bratz women, and continue to work hard to make the world a better place, both locally and internationally.

Miracle-Gro’s The Gro Project for gardening inspiration!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I began by filling our pots and containers with Miracle-GroI have always wanted a massive fruit and vegetable garden, but our yard doesn’t have much space and the soil isn’t the greatest.  This year I decided I wanted to make it work for us, but the weather was making us believe spring would never arrive.  Most days were still freezing cold and I was afraid to plant anything because it would probably die.  Then I came up with an idea, have a fun day of planting inside with the Drama Queens.  Worst case if we couldn’t complete the garden in our yard we could transfer most of the stuff into larger pots and grow them like that once they became too big.  I wanted to save as much money as possible because after all it was the whole reason I wanted the garden to begin with.  Our super easy indoor to outdoor garden cost us just $60 using stuff we already had on hand and picking up some other supplies here and there.

Supplies (indoor)

  • 1 bag of Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix
  • Favorite seeds (we used Sunflowers, tomatoes and peas)
  • Random containers, small pots and egg cartons

Supplies (outdoor)

  • Scrap wood (we used roughly 8 scrap 2’ x 4’ that we got for $5 each)
  • Larger pots (we got ours for $1 each)
  • Nails

First I used our Moisture Control Potting Mix into each of our pots.  I then let each of the girls pick their seeds and gave them the pots to plant their seeds.  I tried to get them to put 1 seed in each pot, but sometimes they snuck an extra seed into each.   Every day we checked on our plants and within days they had begun to sprout up.  I wasn’t expected so many to make it because I am far from having a green thumb and usually everything I plant die, but not this time.  We knew we would need something bigger so hubby went to work on creating an easy outdoor space for them.

He began by creating a box with the 2’ x 4’s by simply attaching them at the corners with nails.  He then took dirt from an area from a hill section in our yard.  The whole project took us two Saturdays to get done.  Once our plants grew large enough and we had not gotten a freezing day we began transferring our plants into our new garden.

Now if you don’t have the space, but still want to bring some green into your home or yard Miracle-Gro has a great resource with fun and unique gardens in The Gro Project.  They also have some fun garden projects on their Pinterest page where gardeners have shared their stories.  They also have an extensive library of articles and videos on their site with expert gardening tips for anyone from the beginner to professional gardener.  They also have online tools to help solve common garden problems and products for a healthy and beautiful garden.

Mess free makeovers with Little Cosmetics

This post is sponsored by the Little Cosmetics

The Drama Queens love makeup.  Every time I go to put mine on they are right next to me touching everything.  I don’t mind that they want to play with makeup, but the mess they make with the real stuff is not fun to clean up.  Now they can have mess free makeovers with Little Cosmetics.  I was very excited that they could have some pretend makeup to give each other makeovers and play pretend without worrying about finding eyeliner used as a pen all over the walls and furniture.  I also like that I won’t have to worry about Kaleb getting it and eating it like everything else he gets his hands on.

We would be receiving the Essentials Set which I thought was so adorable and PINK!  I just knew they were going to love it and I anxiously waited for it’s arrival.  When it arrived I opened it and found it beautifully packaged in pink tissue paper and neatly stored within a pink organza bag.  I was shocked at how real it looks that I had to touch it to make sure I had not read wrong.  It is actually foam, similar to the foam art sheets you find in craft stores.  The girls didn’t even ask for it because they thought it was a makeup set for me and not something for them, which was nice because it allowed me to grab some pictures of it before their little hands got a hold of it.

The Essentials Set includes;

  • One Pressed Powder Compact
  • One Lip Gloss
  • One Pink Blush Compact
  • One Glitter Shadow Pot
  • One Eye Shadow Palette
  • Five Piece Makeup Brush Set
  • Non-breakable Heart Mirror
  • Pink Organza Carrying Bag

I was most excited about the brush set.  I have expensive brushes from when I worked in cosmetics and they always need to play with them while I’m getting ready, now I can give them these to play with instead.  I am hoping this will be the perfect distraction when I am putting on my makeup.  When it is time for me to get ready I can tell them to sit around the table with me and put on their makeup, but don’t have to worry about trying to remove foundation from clothes as we are trying to rush out the door.

Keira was the first one to realize that the set was actually for them and not for me and asked daily if she could have it, but it always seemed that one of the three were off doing something else whenever she asked or I had a free moment.  Finally before she burst with excitement we all had some time to sit down and check out the cute set.  I was amazed that they sat there playing with the makeup for over an hour with hardly a peep or argument and actually sharing.  The only noises I heard were them either singing as they made themselves beautiful or talking about what makeup they were using.

We held Kaleb off until after I had gotten some pictures and the second we let him go he jumped at his sisters.  They decided to give him a makeover and he loved every second of it.  It was so cute watching him look at every piece with real interest and seeing what his sisters were doing.  His favorite to hold was the lip gloss and at one point he even tried to “put” some on Kaylee, who thought it was just too funny.

Once they had enough with giving each other makeovers they turned to daddy, who was a little resistant to a makeover even if it was pretend.  After a few minutes he really got into it as they covered him with brushes, pretended to paint his nails with the lip gloss and even combed his eyebrows.  Within a few minutes he turned the tables and tried to make them over, but they were in hysterics at this point at the thought of daddy wearing makeup that he couldn’t even get close enough to get them.

By the time I remembered to get some video they were at their tired point.  Khloe decided to head up to bed while Keira and Kaylee continued to play a little longer.  I’m not sure if it was because I had the camera on them or if they were at the point of being done and ready to head to bed because they were oddly quiet the whole time.

Lovable Labels Ultimate Camp Packs for all your labeling needs

This post is sponsored by the Lovable Labels

With four children there are more times than I can count that we have left something behind while visiting a friend or relative.  Normally leaving something behind is not a big deal and it is returned, but on a rare occasion the parent says they can not find the item.  Nothing upsets me more than something being lost, or worse returning for another visit to see the item, but be told that it is theirs and not the one we left behind.  There have also been a couple times while at the park another child will steal a toy or ball from my children and even the parent will lie that the item is their child’s.  If only for these instances I had a cute label on the item to be sure in a second I could point out that it was in fact ours.  Lovable Labels helps in just the right way with a unique and adorable selection of labels including the Ultimate Camp Packs for all your labeling needs.

Lovable Labels really hooked me up.  I wanted to label everything, but I had to hold back (though with the Ultimate Camp Pack I really could go label crazy) and labeled a few select items that either causes fights between the Drama Queens or stuff we often bring out with us like flip flips.  I especially loved how they included these super cute I <3 Blogging labels.  Wonder where I will put them, perhaps one of the back of my laptop and phone case.  I also love the super cute sticker that say “Blogging is Bliss” they placed on the front of my kit folder.

When trying to decide on a pack to review I found they were all cute, but I wanted something I could use with all the kids.  I finally decided on Hoo Am I? because all four of them have a thing for owls.  I went with simply “Traverse Children” on my labels so I could easily use them on any of their stuff rather than just pick one child.  I was so excited to receive my labels that hubby made fun of me while I waited for them to arrive.

When I opened up my pack I was excited to check them all out.  I had thought about labels in the past, but had never really found any that I really liked or felt fit our entire family, but these were more than I imagined.  I loved the vibrant colors and the adorable owls.  Kaylee about screamed with excitement when she saw them (she is the biggest owl fan out of them all and even has owl bedding) and wanted to stick them all over the house., but I was able to hold her back by letting her pick a Limited Edition Camp Fun Stickies that they gave me.  Once she was calmed down I picked out three new dresses and two pairs of new summer sandals/flip flops I wanted to put them on.  The dresses I just had to try out the Clothing Dots on (they usually don’t sleep out, but soon enough they will so I might as well get used to labeling clothing) and used the Shoe labels on the sandals because they are always taking off when we go to the park so this way if another child has the same ones we know which are ours.

Keira and Kaylee saw me labeling away and begged to put labels on their Kindles, so I let them each pick one.  Kaylee went with a Square and Keira went with a Slimline.  This is great because even though they have their names setup on them once they login to a specific area you have no clue if they have the right one and this way we now know whose is whose from the labels.  Now to get Khloe to put one on and we are all set.

The color scheme is very cute (which you can see in the pictures), I love how in my opinion has a little bit of a boy and girl feel to it.  Some teals, blues, pink and red.  I am still deciding what I want to put the two pink Mini-Metal Tags on, it will have to be something that all the girls use or else they will end up fighting.

The variety in this pack is great.  Even though we are not quite at the camp years just yet I can easily see this being a great pack to label everything as you send your child off to summer camp.  You can easily label everything they are taking with them with no worries of the labels coming off because they are dishwasher and microwave safe, waterproof and UV resistant.  Now if something is left behind either through out camp or after leaving camp it can easily be returned.

Baby Aspen “Just Hatched” Plush Dinosaur and Lovie begins Kaleb’s lovie obsession

This post is sponsored by the Baby Aspen

Over the last few months as Kaleb has become more mobile he has begun stealing dolls and stuffed animals from the Drama Queens.  It is really adorable because he will hug and kiss them, but it is short lived because they are not thrilled with him taking off with their toys.  Baby Aspen “Just Hatched” Plush Dinosaur and Lovie was just what we needed.  This simply adorable dinosaur is super plush and the fabric is so soft.  He is surface-washable, which is great when you have a sick little one who needs their friend to cuddle up to.  He measures 12″ high, 6″ wide and a diameter of 10 1/2″ and comes with a just as soft 12″ square lovie embroidered with “Just Hatched” and cracked-egg accents.  Perfect for a special little one in your life or as a baby shower or birthday gift.

Waiting for the dinosaur to arrive I wasn’t sure how Kaleb would react to him.  He has mixed reactions when it comes to toys and stuffed animals.  Some he instantly falls in love with, while others he seems to be afraid of.  The day he arrived I took him out of the box and Kaleb speed crawled across the room and began “yelling” at me and tried to get a hold of him.  I guess you could say it was love at first sight for these two.  I quickly snapped some pictures of the adorable packaging before Kaleb went into attack mode.  The dinosaur comes holding the lovie inside a cardboard cracked-egg like he was hatching.  I almost hated removing him from his egg, but Kaleb was not waiting any longer.

I handed both the lovie and dino over to him and it was just so cute.  He began to hug him tight and rub the lovie because both are so soft.  He would not put him down which was so cute to watch because he was trying to crawl while hang onto him.  If I pick him up and say “is this mommy’s baby?” he will race over, grab him out of my hands and proceed to hug and kiss him.  He was not having mommy steal his baby.

I just love the vibrant color scheme and different textures on him, which Kaleb is drawn too more than anything.  He has come many places with us as well including car rides (Kaleb hates the car) and to our breast feeding group where he was a huge hit with the other babies.  Everyone compliments him and asks where they can purchase him from.  I wish we had been introduced to him sooner, Kaleb might just have slept a little better with his buddy by his side.

You can purchase the “Just Hatched” Plush Dinosaur and Lovie for $32.19 and other amazing gifts directly from the Baby Aspen website.  Baby Aspen can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest as well as their blog.
