A little about U.P. Mom Creations
U.P. Mom Creations is owned by Tammy. She grew up in a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and always enjoyed crafting. Her first sewing project was curtains for her bedroom in high school on a borrowed machine (she still has the curtains). Sewing got put aside during college and she picked up a small project here and there after the birth of her first child. After the birth of her second child she made a ring-sling and some burp cloths and was introduced to cloth diapers by a friend. It was while learning about cloth diapers she saw all the cute prints and gathered knowledge to sew them herself. Soon she was addicted! She enjoys sewing a variety of items, but cloth diapers are her favorite.

We received a beautiful lime green and blue bamboo one-size fitted. Before I even took it out of the packaging I was in love. You could just see how soft the diaper was without even touching it. The tye dye swirl on it is just so pretty, but still has a very boy feel to it (though Kaleb is not against wearing pink). As I was looking it over Kaleb decided he wanted to check it out and because it is just so soft he actually hugged it like he does his teddy bear, but of course he stopped when he saw mommy with the camera. I love organic bamboo velour (OBV) and the few fitted diapers we have are made with it. Not only do I just love it because of his rash issues in some of the other diapers we own, but he actually enjoys wearing the diaper. I want to believe it is because it is so soft, I have some OBV mama cloth and it feels like you have nothing on and the boy just loves to be naked.
Tammy suggests washing several times to reach max absorbency because it is after all natural fibers. I did wash it three times before using because I was behind on diaper laundry so it worked out perfect. On our first use I left the diaper fully unsnapped on the rise because I am so used to all his diapers needing to be on the largest rise setting due to his size. With the second use I used the first set of rise snaps (the second largest rise setting) and was very surprised to find an even better fit. Since he has another whole rise setting left it means we will get a lot of use out of this diaper.
My biggest concern is always his chunky thighs. He is built big like both hubby and I and worry that if elastic is too snug it leaves a friction rash on his thigh, but if too loose we end up with a blow out. I found the elastic to be the perfect tension for us. It gave a nice and snug fit, but did not cut into his thigh. Also because it is within the fabric it cushions his thigh nicely unlike to foe on some diapers. I knew he must have liked the fit and elastic as well because unlike some of his other diapers he was not pulling at the leg opening and trying to pull it off. Some diapers he will actually keep his hand in the leg opening so the elastic won’t dig into his thighs, but that is not the case with this diaper.
The waist sizes are great. I was able to get a nice fit using the to middle snaps with no crossover. There are still quite a few snaps left to make the diaper larger as he grows. Sorry forgot to count how many exactly and it is currently in the wash because it is the first diaper I grab when it is clean. I will say her 35lbs+ can easily be achieved though because Kaleb is chunky and weighs in around 27lbs and still has a good amount of room to grow into the waist before reaching the largest setting. I really believe this diaper would have fit Khloe when she was in diapers and she almost outgrew the largest disposable diapers when she potty trained (she was nearly 50lbs at 3) and wish we had cloth diapered her, but could not find many that fit her well.
The soaker is amazing! When I first read snake style I had not realize it was the long soaker that you can fold over. I have never tried a snake style inside a fitted so I was very surprised to see it, but it was great for us because fitteds have been our go to night time diaper because of his rashes and he tends to be a heavy wetter. If he is not in a fitted at night he can wake up to 4 times crying for a change, with this diaper he fell a sleep around 10pm for the night and didn’t wake until hubby woke for work at 5am. That was 7 hours in the diaper, no waking, no discomfort or leaking. The included newborn soaker is great even if you no longer have a newborn. Designed to be used alone on a newborn or young infant who don’t need as much absorbency and slim the diaper down, but can be snapped onto the soaker and used as a doubler. The soakers are 3 layers, bottom is organic hemp terry, hidden layer of heavy organic bamboo fleece and top organic bamboo velour.
