Wordless Wednesday: More time at the park

We have a walker!

You read that right, we have a walker! Kaleb took his first steps back on Father’s Day, but he only walks a couple times a day and prefers to crawl because he is faster. Over the last week or so we have visited the park and I let him free because it is a Tot Lot and geared towards younger children.  The last few days he has really started to pick it up more, especially at the park, he just loves to walk on the crushed tire. His balance is getting better and better each time he takes off. He will pick himself up from sitting to walk, but prefers to walk after holding onto something and having full balance instead of trying to steady himself.  It is so cute watching him walk to the slide, climb the stairs and slide down all by himself, though it makes me sad because my baby is getting so big, too fast.  Soon he will be all over the place and running away from us outside like his sisters and I will be wishing he was crawling again.

Check him out! I was finally able to get the camera fast enough to grab a video of him walking to the slide. Don’t you just love the little bounce he had to put in there? Of course when he reaches his destination he still throws himself at it or drops down instead of stopping.

Amazing Homemade Macaroni & Cheese from eMeals

This post is sponsored by eMeals and contains affiliate links

My family is picky, I mean beyond picky.  One will eat meat, another will not.  One loves pasta (especially macaroni & cheese), another refuses to touch is most of the time.  Making meals that everyone will eat is hard and I often have to cook something main with multiple sides.

When I initially began using eMeals.com it was not only to try and schedule our meals a little better.  I really like being prepared for the week and not wonder every day what we would be having for dinner.  I also signed up so that I could get more recipe options.  Now while we don’t necessarily follow our weekly meal plan, I do tend to use it quite a bit.  There are some meals that only half the family will eat (i.e. fish, myself and Keira are not big fans) so I will switch that meal out for something I know everyone might actually eat.

I will admit with the craziness of the beginning of the year with birthday parties to plan and host I didn’t get the chance to check out some of my earlier meal plans so I went back and used a couple of those over the last few weeks.  One of the meals on this set of plans was Hamburger Steaks and Homemade Macaroni & Cheese.  The girls (except Khloe) of course didn’t touch the hamburger steaks, but just loved the mac & cheese.  Our plan is the Classic Meals Family Plan for any store.  I was excited to be able to share the mac & cheese recipe with my readers because it was a major hit and we actually had none left over like many other nights.  Unfortunately at the time I didn’t think to take any pictures during the preparation, but I did grab a finished picture.

Homemade Macaroni & Cheesemacaroni & cheese

  • 1 ½ c uncooked elbow macaroni (we forget to get elbow so we substituted it with corkscrew)
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1⅛ c milk
  • 1 t salt

Boil macaroni. Drain. Mix together eggs, milk, salt. In square baking dish, layer macaroni & cheese alternately. Pour egg mixture over all. Bake @ 350°, 45 minutes, uncovered.

Looking stylish with Firmoo

s-p-2186I have worn glasses for most of my life.  I want to say it was late elementary school when it was found I needed them to see the black board.  I had a hard time taking notes and couldn’t see if I was seated in the middle to back of the classroom.  Of course when I finally received my glasses they were far from cute or fun.  They were big, plastic blue and goofy looking, needless to say I rarely wore them and probably damaged my eyes more, if only I could have found something stylish with Firmoo.

Fantasy creature play with Zelfs

This post is sponsored by Moose Toys’

zelfszelfs (2 of 14)zelfs (5 of 14)We love fantasy creatures in our house.  Unicorns are plenty in pillow, stuffed and toy form.  We were excited to add Zelfs to our collection.  They are simply adorable looking like they are part troll, elf and fairy.  We just love their hair too.

I didn’t let the Drama Queens know about the Zelfs arrival or I would be bombarded daily with questions asking where it was.  I knew they would go nuts over it so it was easier to keep it a secret until it arrived.  We received a medium sized Garny, Dark Fairy Zelf, who is very cute and purple (my favorite color) with wings and black hair.  Garny comes with a comb, charm, 3 elastic hairbands and a collector’s leaflet showing the other Zelfs.

zelfs (7 of 14)I can’t get over how cute these are.  Ours has a floral tattoo like print on it’s belly, leg and butt and sparkly wings.  The charm is a purple spider, which despite being a spider was also cute.  Oddly they each took turns with our Zelf, which is a fantasy in itself and almost never happens.  One would be playing with Garny, another looking over the leaflet decided which ones they would like while the third would be playing with the charm.  Kaleb kept trying to steal it all just because they had it and didn’t like that he wasn’t included.

zelfs (14 of 14)zelfs (10 of 14)Kaylee was interested in having me create different hairstyles, but was fond of the single ponytail standing straight up, while Keira preferred to just brush it’s hair.  Khloe was more interested in making it fly around and crash into her siblings.  For me is was a throw back to when I was a kid and my mother collected trolls (imagine nearly 100 of them big and small lining shelves) and we would all play with them brushing their hair and changing their clothes.  It made me feel like I was having this amazing opportunity to share something similar that I did when I was little with my kids.

Where to Buy

The Zelfs won’t be available until next month, but will be sold in more than 12 characters and three sizes.  You can currently pre-order them at Toys “R” Us.  I know I plan to order some soon to put away for Christmas!  To keep up to date on their arrival you can follow their Facebook page.zelfs (8 of 14)

Mini chicken pizza recipe

mini chicken pizzaThis recipe was a complete accident.  I was following an eMeals.com (<!—–affiliate link) recipe and I major messed up on the ingredients when purchasing so I just went with it and made it my own.  This fed our family of 6 without a problem.

Mini Chicken Pizza

(Serves 6-8 – approximately 30 minutes prep/cook time)

chickenpizza (4 of 5)

  • 1 box of Texas Toast
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 8oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 package Perdue cooked chicken strips (the ones you can put in salad or substitute for 2 chicken breasts)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil minced
  • 2 fresh tomatoes diced
  • 1tbs minced garlic

Add garlic, tomato sauce and chicken in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer (or if using fresh chicken until chicken is cooked through).  Place Texas Toast onto a cooking sheet and place chicken mixture on top of it.  Follow cookie directions on the Texas Toast box, deducting 5 minutes of cook time.

July Must-Haves: Retro Glasses from Firmoo

bloger glasses

A pair of vintage eyeglasses is somewhat the bravest choice that you could try on this summer. There is a popular believe that retro look is the most classical one when you make good use of it. Vintage eyeglasses are mixed with the standard and subdued colors. So they could easily get highlighted during a nighttime or in a crowd. Excitingly, you can find your First pair for free for vintage eyeglasses at Firmoo.com.

A perfect combination of modern fashion trends and retro look create a different formation that speaks much about the fashion and latest fashion trends.
