Carmex Healing Lotion & Cream Review

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carmex®. All opinions are 100% mine.

We constantly wash our hands in our house.  Between myself staying home and taking care of the girls, to my husband and mother in-law working in a nursing home washing our hands numerous times a day is a must.  With New England’s winter fast approaching we need to be prepared for dry and chapped hands.  I am always trying to find a lotion or cream to help prevent or heal our hands from becoming chapped.

I received Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream and was pleasantly surprised with both.   They both smell amazing, I believe there is a hint of vanilla to their scent, which is a nice added touch.  Both were not overly greasy, and once rubbed in I didn’t notice I had put anything on.

I tried the healing lotion first to help prevent chapping before it started.  I applied a small amount to my right hand and not to my left and instantly felt a difference.  Where I added the lotion on my right hand it was smooth and soft, while my left was a little dry and slightly rough.   It is very light weight, if I had not known I put it on and felt the difference I wouldn’t even know I had lotion on.  My husband tried the healing cream because his hands are dry and rough from working with them for years.  While as a man he wasn’t too into the scent he did say he felt a difference.  I have to agree his hands are much softer than they have been in some time.  My mother in-law grabbed the sample of the healing lotion and carries it with her in her scrubs and uses it multiple times a day after washing her hands.  She too loves it, and wants to buy more once we run out.  Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream is a hit in our house.  I plan on using some on the girls where they tend to get dry (knees, elbows and ankles) to help prevent the pain they get from dryness before it happens.

Each product retails for $5.99 and can be found in Walgreens or online at or  For how much I like the Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream I find the price to be very reasonable and affordable compaired to other items we have purchased in the past.  They are packaged nicely and I feel I would be able to easily find it on the shelves next to other lotions and creams.

Certain Dri Solid Antiperspirant Review & Giveaway

Certain Dri is the number one over-the-counter antiperspirant recommended by doctors for treating excessive perspiration. New to the Certain Dri line of antiperspirant products is Certain Dri Solid, equally effective and specially-formulated for those with sensitive skin. While other over-the-counter antiperspirants claim to be “clinical strength” and “waterproof” the Certain Dri formulations – 12% aluminum chloride and 25% aluminum sesquichlorohydrate –  are the strongest available, providing 72-hours of protection with each application. Retail price is $5.50-$6, almost 40% less than the other clinical strength antiperspirant products. Dermatologists have been recommending

Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant Roll-On to help control excessive sweating of the feet (helps prevent blisters) and hands, too. Same directions apply. Apply sparingly at night and let completely dry before washing hands or feet, getting dressed or slipping into bed.

product_shot_solid-smWhen it comes to antiperspirant I am always a little leery of what I try.  Between sensitive skin and sweating more than I would like, I worry that it won’t work enough or it will irritate my skin.  When I received Certain Dri I will admit I kept putting off using it because I was worried I would be out and it failed leaving me to be quite the smelly person (it has happened before and it beyond embarrassing).

I was pleasantly surprised that not only did I not break out in a rash, but Certain Dri held up for several hours leaving me smelling like my soap and not body odor.

I have seen Certain Dri in stores, but I don’t like to try new things when I have found something that slightly works for me.  With our fixed income spending money on something that I am uncertain about screams “don’t buy me” from the frugal side of me.  I am happy to announce however that once I run out of the Certain Dri I currently have I fully intend to purchase more.

ecoStore USA Baby Sleepytime Bath Review

baby_sleepytimecopy.1We had the privilege of trying the Baby Sleepytime Bath.  I was very interested in how well it would help to calm our girls before bedtime, because in the past none of the so called bedtime bath products resulted in calmer children.  I was drawn to the Baby Sleepytime Bath most because it is all natural and doesn’t have any chemicals like all of the ecoSTORE USA products.

The first night we used the Baby Sleepytime Bath with the girls they were overly tired and cranky.  I ended up having to get into the bath with them and hold Keira down because she has suddenly grown this fear of the bath and refuses to get into it.  I did notice though that because of the ingredients Keira wasn’t as congested as she normally is at night due to the dry heat in our home.  I was quite shocked at how well she slept due to the lack of congestion, and was very excited to use it for her next bath.

Our girls receive a bath every other night unless they are extra dirty from playing in the yard or a park, so it wasn’t for two nights until we got to use it again.  I was very surprised that Keira stayed in the bath this time.  It wasn’t without a fight to get her in and we did have to fight to keep her in, but she at least stayed in long enough to get washed without being held down.  Kaylee fully enjoyed herself splashing and because of the all natural ingredients I did not need to worry too much about her attempting to drink her bath water.  After the bath pajamas were put on and both girls crawled into bed with us (Khloe was away for the night).  I was surprised that both girls were breathing normally without congestion and passed out easily without a fight and slept soundly without a cough or sneeze.  I really love that the ingredients really do help to keep them a little less congested in our stuffy old house.

Baby Sleepytime Bath ingredients include;

  • Water
  • Polysorbate 20
  • Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate
  • Lavandula Hybrida Oil
  • Geranium Maculatum Oil
  • Eucalyptus Globulus Oil
  • Citral
  • Citronellol
  • Coumarin
  • d-Limonene
  • Geraniol
  • Linalool

Their aromatherapy blend of Lavender and Geranium help your little ones fall into a relaxed and calm sleep with just one capful in each bath.  Baby Sleepytime Bath gets major love from us even just for helping with the girls congestion.

PediaCare Review and Giveaway!

My girls don’t get sick often and when they do it is usually just a mild cold.  When they do catch a cold they are miserable with runny noses, coughs, congestion and sometimes mild fevers and I look to PediaCare to help them feel better again.

As luck would have it my step-daughter visited last weekend and as usual her mother sent her to us sick.  This little girl always seems to have a cold most likely due to a weak immune system so I was very happy to have a bottle of PediaCare® Children’s Fever Reducer Plus Multi-Symptom Cold available.  By the time she went home on Monday she was showing no signs of the cold she arrived to us with.  She had no issues with the taste and took it without a fight, which is great for us because she is picky when it comes to everything.

A couple days after she left I noticed that our girls were now getting colds.  We tried to avoid Khloe getting sick by sending her to my grandmother, but I got the call yesterday that she too is sick.  Keira has been getting PediaCare® Children’s Fever Reducer/Pain Reliever and has been getting better and is actually sleeping.

PediaCare offers several products for various ailments including fever, cold, flu, cough, runny nose, sore throat and pain.  Their products are available for infants to 11 years old, so you will be certain to find a product to help make your little one feel better on their road to getting better.

They will also be launching an iPhone application this month.  The application will be able to assist you chose a product based on your child’s symptoms.

ReThink Crafts Diaper Cover Review and Giveaway!

I love handmade, which makes me love Etsy!  While browsing one night I came across ReThink Crafts shop and fell in love with her beautiful diaper covers.  She was nice enough to send me a beautiful pink cover with a modern design on it in brown, tan, white and pinks (I love this color combo, it’s like she read my mind).  The PUL on her covers is much thicker than any other PUL I have seen and it holds up amazing.  It held up to a overnight, overly saturated Goodmama diaper without a single leak.  I have also paired the cover up with a few other WAHM fitted diapers and have not had one single issue or leak.

Here is a little info about her shop and diapers.

This diaper wrap is made to cover any cloth diaper. It has a waterproof layer of PUL (polyurethane laminate) to minimize leaking. Extra strong Velcro helps keep the diaper secure. This diaper is lightweight, so it cuts down on the bulkiness of cloth diapers, but it offers just as much leakage control.

I made these diapers out of necessity when I realized that the more diaper covers I had, the less laundry I would have to do each week. My diaper service only provided 8 diaper covers, so I felt like I was constantly washing! I use these on my son, and have worked hard to modify the design until it was just what I was looking for to provide comfort and minimize leakage.

XS up to 10lbs
S 8-16 lbs
M 15-25 lbs
L 23-35 lbs

She has been told her covers run a little small, so I decided to go with a large. I figured if the large was too big on Kay I could easily use it with Keira until Kay grew into it. The cover fits her perfectly though (she is roughly 18-20lbs with chunky thighs) and has plenty of room to grow so I can easily see it, possibly fitting until she potty trains.

Make Your Holiday Card Personal With PurpleTrail

I have always preferred personalized holiday cards over boxed store bought cards.  Personalizing your holiday cards shows you put thought into them rather than grabbed a box of the shelf.  PurpleTrail makes personalizing your cards easy with their design center.  In just a few minutes I was able to design a elegant holiday card featuring the girls.

How will I create our perfect holiday card?  With three girls all over the place this is a task not easy to master.
  • Attempt to get a family photo featuring all 5 of us looking at the camera.  I can dream that we are all smiling, but I will settle for us at least all slightly paying attention.  Though I can imagine that one or all of the girls will be off in their own little world.
  • Create our own unique way to wish our family and friends happy holidays.  Whether simply adding our names or having my girls draw some images that I scan and put onto the card.
  • Add some cute holiday clipart to give it a more feel, without being over the top like some premade cards can be.
  • Use colors that fit our family.  While we have a lot of pink and purple being that we have all girls, hubby and I prefer darker colors like black, deep browns and maroons.  We also prefer black and white photos over colored.
  • Help the kids add some scrapbook embellishments and stickers once the cards arrive to make them feel the contributed to the overall design of our holiday cards.
PurpleTrail makes creating beautiful holiday cards into a fun activity rather than something you feel you have to do.  With tons of premade options as well as creating your own from scratch you will easily come up with a design that works for you and your family.

Not into sending out cards for the holiday?  You can even create beautiful and unique invitations, birth announcements, save the date, business or thank you cards with their design studio.  Put a personal touch on any type of card to show your family, friends or customers you care.

I know that I will be using PurpleTrail for many holiday and special occasion cards in the future.  I think they will be the perfect place to create personal thank you cards to send out after my daughters’ big birthday bash next year.  What better way than to have each of them hold up a sign saying thank you and use the pictures to create a completely different thank you card.
With PurpleTrail you can easily stay on the website for hours browsing and designing cards.

I am participating in a giveaway for and am eligible for a PurpleTrail gift code. Check out the contest information page at

Glee Gum Make Your Own Gummies Kit Review and Giveaway!

I have been most excited about this kit for so long, but as luck would have it something always came up before we got a chance to do it.  This past weekend was perfect, we were going to do it after dinner with Khloe, Keira and Arianna.  They were all excited and couldn’t wait, when I look over and find Khloe passed out at 6pm.  I decided that we were going to go ahead with it while she was sleeping, put some gummies aside for her and eventually purchase another kit so she can make them too.

I open the kit up and realize I forgot the directions at home, but as luck would have it I was able to get an internet connection to pull them up on the Glee Gum website!  Score we could now start.  I decided to read the directions over twice just so I knew what I was doing and could focus on assisting hubby and the girls, all while taking pictures.

You start by laying out your molding starch and picking items you want to use as molds.  Being the odd children that they are they picked out carrots and celery that we had been snacking on as their molds.  A few fingerprints later we are ready to pour (ok well 5 remolds because Keira enjoyed touching the molding starch).

The fact that you are able to do this all in the microwave is a major plus for me because I didn’t have to worry about little curious fingers getting burnt on the stove.  I quickly mix the ingredients per the directions (super simple).
  1. Empty the powdered seaweed into a microwave safe bowl and mix it with a 1/2 cup of water until there is no lumps.
  2. Wash the piece of seaweed until it is no longer salty and add it to the bowl of powered seaweed and water.
  3. Microwave for 2 minutes (or until it foams up), remove from the microwave and take out the piece of seaweed and shake it off a bit.
  4. Add in the powdered sugar and microwave for another minute (or until it foams up again).
  5. Pour into your molds and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Take your gummies from the fridge, remove them from the mold and rinse them under water.
  7. Dry them off and put them into the sour packet and shake until lightly coated.
  8. Enjoy your gummies!
I really enjoyed these gummies.  I found them comparable to other gummy candy you can purchase in the store, but the fact that we made them ourselves as a family made them so much better than any sold in the stores.  I would highly suggest these gummies to my mommy friends looking for a fun activity to do on a cold day with their little ones.  This was by far the most fun we have had as a family in a while.

Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies Review and Giveaway!

I will admit it, my girls don’t always eat 100% healthy which can often lead to them being irregular.  When I was asked if I would like to review Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies, I had to say yes right away.  What better way to get some extra fiber into them while they think they are getting a sweet treat.
Like most moms I know I had to try these first before giving them to my girls, because odds are if I don’t like the taste neither will they.  I was happy to find they tasted just like I was eating gummy candy, which meant my girls would have no problem eating them, the problem would be getting them to have only three a day.

Khloe loves them and actually reminds me to give her one whenever we go near the cabinet they are in, Keira on the other hand won’t even try one.  For some reason she has become anti everything lately, so much so that just the other day I had to get into the bath and hold her down just to wash her.  I am hoping she will try one soon, because I know she will really love them and because she has been very picky with her eating habits lately and at least I will know she is getting some fiber.

Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies help to keep your children regular, while they believe they are getting a gummy treat.  These gummies are a Parent Tested, Parent Approved winner and after trying them myself and seeing how much Khloe likes them I can see why.  Below are some details directly from the website that I wanted to share.

An Apology!

I want to apologize to all my readers for my disappearing act over the last week or so.  We had some unforeseen, personal family issues happen which left me without my laptop for a few days. As you can imagine putting me drastically behind when I was already behind to begin with.  I am slowly catching up and planning will be posting up at least two new reviews and giveaways tonight.  If you are actually reading this then please feel free to give yourself two extra entries into my current giveaways for bearing with me as I try and play catch up.
