It’s no secret I love to crochet. If you’re on my friends list or follow my blog I often share stuff I have completed. Growing up on nights when my mom had to work we slept upstairs in my grandmother’s apartment. Our bunk bed was in her room because she didn’t have enough space for us any where else and many nights I watched as she would sit up crocheting. Eventual one day I asked her to teach me and she did. I was young and by the time I master single crochet her arthritis had gotten so bad that she rarely crocheted anymore and could not teach me anymore. Years went by and I never picked up a hook again until three years ago. I was expecting Kaylee and one of the moms in my online group was always crocheting and it all looked so cute. I remembered I had tons of yarn stored away and I decided it was time to pick it up again. Of course I still only knew single crochet, but now was the age of YouTube and I began watching videos and taught myself everything I needed. I started out with free patterns and once I felt comfortable I began looking into paid patterns. It was at this time I stumbled onto RAKJpatterns. Kristi’s patterns were cute and beautiful and I just had to create stuff with them. Being a mom of three I couldn’t afford to spend a ton on cute hats for the kids so creating them was the way for me.
I am not sure how I stumbled onto RAKJpatterns, but I am glad I did. Kristi is simply amazing. Her patterns are priced affordably, but that isn’t what makes her so great. She is very active with her customers. If you have a question about one her patterns hop over to her Facebook page or shoot her an email and she will help you. She is always having amazing sales and doing pattern giveaways. I was excited when she posted about her book. Even though I no longer have a baby I knew I had to have it. Lots of my friends are pregnant or just had babies and who doesn’t love cute little handmade stuff. I began to budget for the release when I saw her calling for reviewers and I jumped at the chance.
The book Sweet & Simple Baby Crochet is AMAZING! Containing 35 adorable and gorgeous patterns from newborn to 12 months, it came just in time. My friend is having her baby shower this coming weekend and I just could not decide what to make for her. From blankets to bibs, hats to booties and beyond I just wanted to make it all. I finally settled on the adorable Vivianne Slippers which I was shocked at how easy and fast I was able to complete them that I was able to move onto the beautiful Woodland Blanket which is currently on the hook. I think I am going to be able to complete it in time to even create another item or two in time for the baby shower.
If you love to crochet (even if you don’t have a baby) you just have to pick up this book! You’ll be sure to find something you want to create for a special little one. Whether you just like to create as gifts, for your children or grandchildren or even some adorable blankets good for even older little ones you don’t want to miss these patterns.
