Shopping for the family with #RadioShack deals #MC #sponsored

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for RadioShack. I received a gift card to facilitate a shopping trip and promotional item as a thank you for participating.

1477908_10152855436538306_9253047_nIs your family anything like mine? A 6 year old asking for an iPod?  Hubby looking for headphones?  Almost 2 year old needing his own Kindle so he doesn’t have to steal his sisters?  I know that this season we have a lot of techy gifts on wishlists and I need to find some great deals if I want to get them all what they want.  I plan on doing a combination of online deal hunting and in-store shopping whenever I get the chance.  I am hoping to at least one wishlist item for each of the kids and hubby.

RadioShack is having a great promotion, Name Your Deal.  You began by getting the chance to vote on your favorite preexisting deal or pick the product and discount that you would most like to see coupons for.  This part of the promotion ended on the 22nd, but don’t worry if you missed out on voting, the top deals will be available beginning at 9am tomorrow (November 27th) and try and grab a deal because coupon codes are in limited quantities!  You can try and score one by visiting the RadioShack Holiday Hub.

Can’t get on to grab a deal tomorrow, don’t get discouraged.  RadioShack stores will open at 8 a.m. this Friday, the 29th for Black Friday (check your local mall for their posted hours).  Some deals you might find are up to 80% off starting online Thanksgiving Day on RadioShack.com.  Their Cyber Monday deals will begin Dec. 2nd at 12 a.m.

**Update
Hubby and I were able to head into the store and scored some great deals! I will be talking more about them soon.  We were able to pick up some neat gifts for all the kids (some I wasn’t even expecting to find there). I was also excited to find some great items for myself and hubby that I never even thought to look in Radioshack for. I know I was able to add a few new items to both my wishlist and my shopping list for hubby.  Now just to find a way to sneak off without the hubby to make sure I am able to grab a surprise for him!  Let me just say everything we did score was under $90!  I was beyond thrilled and shocked when it all rang up.

Ornament or holiday fun? They’re Hang ’em & Hatch ’em

This post is sponsored by Hang ’em & Hatch ’em

hangem (1 of 1)hangem (4 of 6)The Drama Queens loves things that hatch and grow in water.  They just love to sit and watch them begin to hatch and then grow.  So it is no shock they would love Hang ’em & Hatch ’em!  From the moment they arrived they drove me nuts asking when we would be able to do them.  It seemed like every time we had a free chance to put them in water something came up or someone had fallen a sleep or was crabby.  Finally the day came that we had the chance to begin hatching them! hangem (1 of 6)

hangem (2 of 6)I’m always looking for unique stocking stuffers or fun Christmas tree decorations and these are just perfect.  The eggs are brightly colored for the holidays and can be hung from the Christmas tree.  This is what makes them great.  Every year the kids get upset when we take down the tree, it signifies to them that the holidays are over and all the gifts have been open.  Now with Hang ’em & Hatch ’em once the tree comes down there can be even more fun.  I think the only problem might be trying to keep them on the tree until it is time to take them off.  I might wake up one morning and find them gone and hatching in the kitchen sink.

hangem (6 of 6)hangem (5 of 6)Each package contains 3 eggs and they hatch into a snowman, polar bear or penguin.  They are simple to do and a lot of fun.  Add to room temperature water and in 1-2 days they will hatch and reveal their cute little friend.  The girls couldn’t wait to see which was in which color.  Of course they are inpatient and rather than check on them daily they had to look at them every half hour or so and wondered why they had not hatched yet.  I thought they were going to explode before they hatched.  Finally they were hatched and they couldn’t decide who wanted which one, so they just take turns with each one.hangem (3 of 6)

You can purchase the Hang ’em & Hatch ’em on Amazon for $12.95.reviewpost

Holiday must have: Glitzi Globes and Trash Pack

This post is sponsored by Moose Toys’

b971e552426611e3ae7f22000ae912b7_8glitzytrash (1 of 5)This Halloween I had the pleasure of handing out Glitzi Globes and Trash Pack toys to our trick or treaters.  It was so much fun to see the kids excited.  I was afraid they wouldn’t like them because they were not candy, but they were a huge hit.  I was able to see a few of our trick or treaters before heading out with our kids and it was nice to see many of them pick the toys over the candy and snacks.  It was great to have a alternative, especially for those parents that might not want their children to have so much candy.  I also had the pleasure of handing them out to some kids at a promotion we put on at work for Day of the Dead.  The kids loved getting them in their little goodie bags.  Unfortunately I was unable to get any pictures because many of the parents were not comfortable with my sharing their children’s picture.glitzytrash (2 of 5)

glitzytrash (3 of 5)Since we received the Glitzi Globes and Trash Pack toys to hand out the Drama Queens have been asking for more Glitzi Globes.  They’ve added them to their wishlists for Santa, pointed out every commercial or ad they see in the paper.  They are one of the few items they have constantly asked for this holiday season.  They also love collecting stuff so they love the Trash Pack for that reason.  They said they want more of them too because they want to collect them all and bounce them all over (their words not mine) and even Kaleb really liked them and shocked me by not putting them in his mouth when he got a hold of them.glitzytrash (4 of 5)

This holiday season they would make great gifts for kids or as a stocking stuffer!  They are recommended for ages 5 and up due to the small parts and pieces for the toys and come in a variety of packs from collections to sets and prices vary.glitzytrash (5 of 5)

Be #CartonSmart this holiday season

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carton Smart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I began planning my holiday meal over the last couple weeks.  While hubby works in the morning we still love having a nice meal once he arrives home around 3pm.  I begin prepping everything the night before, if I can put it together and put it in the over shortly before he arrives home that is great.  Pies are baked, turkey is prepped and put in early the next morning and cook slowly and if we are doing any cookies that is all done the night before.  As I look over many of my usual ingredients I realize that many are canned or bagged and I see so much extra waste.  We are a family trying to be greener, but when I am used to using something since before I could walk it is harder to switch it out.  I am sure once we have less outside interference we'll be able to reduce a lot more, but for now I do small bits here and there.

I was excited to learn I would be receiving a starter kit from Pacific Foods including Organic Pumpkin Puree, Organic Jellied Cranberry Sauce and Organic Chicken Simply Stock.  The thoughts and recipes began to form in my head before I even received them.  I thought pumpkin pie, broth for my stuffing and everyone's favorite turkey side cranberry sauce.  What is great about Pacific Foods is they are packaged in Tetra Pak cartons.

This season I will be #CartonSmart and swapping out my regular canned chicken broth for Pacific Foods Organic Chicken Simply Stock and the canned cranberry sauce for their Organic Jellied Cranberry Sauce.  The Organic Pumpkin Puree was going to be used for a trial pumpkin pie run and I was pleasantly surprised to find a recipe right on the carton!  I am not a big pumpkin fan at all, but the rest of our family that will be attending the meal is so I decided I would attempt a pie this year.

When my kit arrived I went to the store and picked up the last needed ingredients and followed the directions.  Having never prepared a pumpkin pie before I was a little worried to say the least.  My biggest concern was I never had anything pumpkin flavored so I had nothing to compare it to taste wise nor did I know if the consistency was even correct.  Fingers crossed I put the pie into the oven and baked it until the knife came out clean.  I still felt it was a bit soft, but it eventually firmed up.  My in-laws tried it out first and told me was really good so I tried a little.  It wasn't my favorite thing (but again I am not too fond of pumpkin at all), but didn't mind it.  Looks like I will be picking up another Organic Pumpkin Puree to prepare another pie for the holiday!

I never realized how many foods are packaged in Tetra Paks.  Looking through Pacific Foods website I discovered not only broths and purees, but soups, pasta, beans, gravy and more!  I was excited to see the cream of mushroom soup available which I use when making my green bean casserole.  This holiday I am sure you can find one ingredient to be #CartonSmart when preparing your meal.  You can follow Carton Smart on their website – Become Carton Smart, Twitter Tweet @CartonSmart or Follow #CartonSmart on Pinterest.

Double flavored cupcakes with Batter Babies

c3171b5ed994584277e5a1ad6615c6a0ec743f3abatterbabies (2 of 4)I am constantly baking cupcakes and muffins.  As you can see in the pictures my pan is to the point it always looks dirty because I use it so often.  I’ve done rainbow layered cupcakes before, but never did them half and half because I didn’t have something that would work to do it.  Kimber Cakeware the makers of Batter Babies turned out to be the perfect way to make them.  I finally could have some fun with my cupcakes.

batterbabies (1 of 4)When the Batter Babies arrived the Drama Queens said they wanted to make Walking Dead cupcakes.  I don’t let them watch the show, but they have woken up a couple times when it was on and have this weird interest in zombies (I blame hubby).  I asked what they considered zombie cupcakes and they told me blood red and green ooze and wanted them like the cupcakes I found that look like they had glass sticking in them.  I decided that we would use a basic white cake with sprinkles I happened to have in the cabinet and color it red and green.  It turned out more light green and pink because I just didn’t have enough to quite get them dark enough, but it would work.

batterbabies (3 of 4)Using Batter Babies is really simple, they fit right into your cupcake pan and you just place a batter on each side.  I learned that using something to dispense the batter would be easier because spooning it in I kept bumping into them and making a mess.  In the future I will use either a baggie or bottle to squirt the batter into each side.  Once filled remove the Batter Babies and bake as usual.  It is that simple.

batterbabies (4 of 4)While our cupcakes were baking we went to work on the sugar glass, but in the end it didn’t turn out the way I wanted and we scrapped it.  I let the cupcakes sit to cool and planned on coming back to photograph them, but some how every one of them disappeared before I even had the chance to frost them.  The Drama Queens and Kaleb just loved them.  Kaleb can say green now so he kept pointing to the green side and repeating it over and over.  The Drama Queens ate one side at a time saying they were eating zombies.

I can’t wait to try out two different flavors or even making two different muffin flavors.  I bet some blueberry and chocolate chip muffins would taste so good!  Or how about carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting filling.  The combinations are endless!

I never look for batteries with Duracell Quantum #MC #sponsored

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Duracell. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.Quantum_AA_productpageWith four kids, their toys and multiple televisions we are always looking for batteries.  It seems like just as I use all the batteries I purchased to replace all the controllers in the house the smoke detectors are beeping for new batteries.  The kids are constantly needing them for one toy or another and if you know my kids they are spoiled and have stacks upon stacks of toys, most which require batteries.  Kaleb’s favorite toy is his ride on bike that needs batteries for the sounds and lights and their DVD player doesn’t work without the controller.  Even more important is in an emergency or if the power was to go out we are always in need of batteries to power our flashlights and other small items until the power comes back.

On the go we are constantly needing batteries, between their scooters, MP3 player or their handheld games to keep them entertained on longer car rides.  Nothing is more annoying than being half an hour into a three hour round trip ride than having their game or DVD player batteries run out and not having any spares.  If only we had a longer lasting battery we could stock up on and have ready for instances like this…. or do we?

Quantum_XtraLarge_imageWhat is even better than being able to power your electronics and emergency equipment at home?  Having life saving equipment powered and ready to go for first responders.  I have several family members in the EMT field and whether they are in the ambulance racing to save lives or working to dispatch all the calls they are constantly in need of batteries.  Duracell donated one million batteries this year to first responders across the country to help power their life-saving equipment.  Why not check out Duracell’s Quantum Heroes video series if you have a second.  The series showcases the amazing work and real stories of first responders on their YouTube channel.

You don’t need to be a stylist with Supercuts #franchising

This post is sponsored by Supercuts

Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 7.50.21 PMHave you ever been sitting in a salon waiting to have your hair styled and thought to yourself “I wish I could own a salon?”  I know I have, but I am far from being a stylist and thought that was the only way.  Every where I have gone to get my hair cut and styled a stylist always owned it and pushed it out of my head.  I love making people beautiful, but I don’t quite have the talents to achieve it, but perhaps I can with Supercuts franchising.

The Truth about Supercuts and Franchising

The hair care industry is stable. It is a need based business, not a want based business. (Frozen yogurt is a want, but a haircut is a need, both in good times and in bad.)
Cutting Hair cannot be made technologically obsolete.
Services must be performed by a licensed professional, you won’t ever be cutting hair, you will be in charge of running the business instead.
It’s simple to own a Supercuts. You don’t have a high amount of staff, inventory costs are low, hours are especially reasonable compared to other franchise industries such as food, automotive, child care, fitness, etc.
The Supercuts brand is widely recognized. It’s also backed by national advertising, robust web and mobile presence and the Supercuts brand is sought after nationally.

I never really thought about how much salons are actually a need.  Sure some have the luxury of having a family member or friend that can at least trim hair, but many don’t.  I sure wouldn’t trust my hubby to even touch my hair and I would never even attempt to trim my own hair or the kids.  With a Supercuts franchise you can be in a business that will be needed until the end of time (unless someone creates a robot that cuts and styles hair) and often makes people feel good about themselves.  I always remember feeling amazing and beautiful after having my hair styled, especially since becoming a mom.  Wouldn’t it be great if you were the reason behind someone feeling amazing?  What are you waiting for?  If you love business and think a franchise is for you look into Supercuts!
