Review: Curious George Season 7

Kaylee is in love with monkeys, so it came as no surprise that she would love Curious George.  I was excited when we were invited to the premiere event back in November because George himself would be in attendance to take photos with the kids.  Unfortunately my grandmother passed that very week and I had her services to attend, but I was sent a screener of the new episodes.

In the season’s premiere Curious George heads to Australia in “Monkey Down Under” where he is introduced to creatures he has never seen before.  George even gets help from Bindi Irwin, who is an animal conservationist and grew up in Australia surrounded by animals.  I must say the season is so cute and in continues in the adventurous fashion you have come to know and love from Curious George.

The Drama Queens have watched Curious George almost every night since we received the DVD screener.  Which reminds me I need to setup the DVR to record the series so they can watch it in our room as well as in the living room.  I have to say there are many children’s shows currently on that I am not to fond of and find myself begging and pleading with the Drama Queens to change the channel, but Curious George is one of the few I too actually enjoy.  I feel that George while being fun, silly and curious of course, they are still learning right along without really knowing.  I wish I had learned sooner that there was a series because we would have been watching from the beginning.

Season 7 features a full season of animal-themed episodes.  George learns about a wide range of mammals, reptiles, insects and birds.  There are many activities online in the parent’s section, which I just love as a homeschooling mom.  Not only can you enjoy and learn from George, you can also enjoy activities outside of watching the episodes like “Exploring the World of Animals!” which is an activity with tips for identifying animals in your neighborhood.  The Curious George website also offers many other fun activities, printables and video clips to have even more Curious George fun!

Curious George, season 7 premiered on December 3rd on PBS, you can find your local listing and schedule here (though for some reason it wasn’t working for me right now).

I apologize

I k now I have been pretty scarce this last week or so.  Last weekend was hectic and crazy.  On early Friday morning (around 3am) Kaleb spiked a fever.  It wasn’t very high (100.4) so I figured it was just teething.   We gave him some Tylenol and I nursed him back to sleep.  He woke up the next morning his normal self and a normal temperature so we went about our day.  Early Saturday morning (again around 3am) I headed upstairs and found him laying next to hubby on fire.  Hubby said “it is probably just teething, being next to me and body heat.” but I wasn’t so sure so I decided to check.  Underarm temperature 103.2 so off to the ER hubby went while I remained home with the Drama Queens.  Luckily the local clinic (where his pediatrician’s office is) was not busy and they always rush infants through fast when it is.  Turns out little guy has an ear infection, but we had no clue because he maybe pulled at his ears twice and had been his normal self.

On Tuesday we had to stop his amoxicillin because his back and tummy became covered in a rash, which we are pretty certain was an allergic reaction.  We are not 100% sure it was due to the anti-biotic or if something he ate caused it, so we stopped it until it went away and began it again yesterday and will keep an eye.

Now I am beyond exhausted and I have been passing out before I have had a chance to get anything done.  I am pretty sure the anti-biotic has given him thrush (though he shows none of the classic symptoms, he has little signs of it), which I am almost certain has been passed onto me.  I also believe I am coming down with something because I just don’t feel “right” lately.  Hopefully it is nothing major and I get over it quickly.

Lastly yesterday we braved the cold and wind to walk up to my dad’s ITAM Post (roughly 8 blocks away) to do our Christmas together.  They are very busy making rounds for the holiday, so we wanted to make sure the kids had a good time with just them.  We spent a good 4 hours together and the kids are beyond spoiled by them (so are hubby and I).  Each girl received a scooter, fashion dolls (Keira and Khloe each got a Disney Fairy Fashion set and Kaylee a Minnie Bow-tique set), lots of coloring and learning activity books, a stocking of stuff,  crayons, a little coloring roll with crayons, stickers and markers as well as adorable blankets with the matching Disney doll holding it.  Kaleb is also in toy heaven right now, he got some great toys and some of the cutest outfits.  I am going to be editing the photos in a little bit (hubby took them and my card was full shortly after we arrived, so I have no clue how many good shots we got) and I will post them for Wordless Wednesday.

I am going to be working frantically today to get as much done, scheduled and posted for the coming week (especially with the holiday) because I still have every gift to wrap for the kids (which really has to be done tonight, because whatever I can’t finish will be done tomorrow or else I am in trouble… especially since Kaylee has become a night owl).

In case I don’t get the chance or I forget I wish every one….

Happy Holidays!
