Originally I had picked out the name Kaleigh, but no one was too fond of it. As my pregnancy progressed I no longer felt like she was a Kaleigh and began looking at more names. I knew I wanted to have a K name to stick with my mom’s tradition of Ks, but not a clue what. As I browsed through 100s of K names I found nothing I liked so I decided to check out C names because I could easily change it to a K. As soon as I saw Chloe I knew that was it and everyone agreed and loved it. To this day she very much fits her name and I couldn’t imagine her ever being a Kaleigh. Maureen is my mom’s name.
We had picked out the names Kirsten Mackenzie and Kaleb Allen for her before knowing gender. Hubby wasn’t too fond of Kirsten, but he went with it even though he wanted to pick this name. After having our gender scan and learning we were having another girl he told me he really did not like the name still, so I told him to come up with another name. Still in the office he sat for a minute while I was scheduling my next appointments when he said Keira. As luck would have it he picked the perfect name for her.
I went back to my first choice of Kaleigh and we kept Kaleb Allen (still hoping to have a boy), but hubby didn’t like the spelling of Kaleigh. He decided Kaylee was a much better spelling and actually really liked it. She truly is a Kaylee and our first choice with her was perfect. Mary is both hubby’s grandmother’s names, both have died. Nana Nana Mary passed away shortly after we learned we were having another girl and before she died we told her that we had decided to give her name to Keira and it put the biggest smile on her face. I was happy to know that we could give her at least one more smile.
My original boy name was Owen Bernard after my grandfather who had passed away shortly after my first birthday. If Khloe had been a boy I would not have stuck with the K tradition. Seeing as all our children were girls to this point and named in the K tradition as much as I wanted to honor him I preferred to remain uniform (OCD in me). Kaleb/Caleb is a name I have always loved and since our pregnancy with Keira hubby has fallen in love with it as well. Hubby is a Jr. so we did not want him to be a 3rd because they are always confusing hubby and his dad and we didn’t want the same to happen to our son. Allen is both hubby and his dad’s middle name.

Beautiful names! I was the opposite of you, I wanted a C instead of a K, even though my daughter’s name is traditionally spelled with a K. Mandi recently posted..Choosing A Name
